In his films the Italian filmmaker, poet, and writer Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922-1975) was concerned with the problems of Italian society as reflected in his characters' social relations. Pasolini focused especially on the fascist structures and authoritarian systems; and in his choice of actors for his films, he often went for amateurs.
