Christoph Knoth (*1985, Wurzen, Germany) is a graphic designer, teacher and web developer. He studied graphic design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and at the University of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein in Halle where he received his bachelor in 2009. In 2011 he finished his studies in type design with a master at the ECAL / L’École cantonale d’art de Lausanne. In 2012 he was a design researcher at the Jan van Eyck Akademie in Maastricht with his project “Computed Type”. This project explores the historical and future constrains and possibilities of parametric type.

Since 2011 he works together with graphic designer Konrad Renner. They regularly teach and give workshops. Among others they worked on the websites for Casco, Werkleitz, Schauspiel Stuttgart, Kunsthalle Zurich, the New Zealand and the German Pavillon at the Venice Biennale 2015, for the artist group !Mediengruppe Bitnik and the artist Simon Denny.

In the winter semester of 2015/16 Christoph Knoth was a guest professor at the Burg Halle for information design. In the following year he was a guest researcher as a substitute for the professor in typography and started the project “Digital Typography” together with Konrad Renner. Christoph Knoth gave lectures in Berlin, Lausanne, Leipzig, Barcelona, Maastricht, Amsterdam, Reykjavík, Vilnius and workshops in EKA in Tallinn, Sandberg Institute Amsterdam, Burg Halle, ECAL Lausanne and the SDN Junior Research Conference Basel.
