Leopold Kessler, born 1976 in Munich, studied sculpture from 1996–1998 at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich then from 1998–2004 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Kessler has addressed the issue of public space in the widest possible sense of that term since the start of the present millennium, first and foremost by means (among others) of unannounced interventions and later by documenting significant processes or situations with a camera hidden on his body. In 2007 he took part in the ISCP international studio programme in New York. Kessler presently lives as an independent artist in Vienna.
