Adaptation of a Female Anubis Baboon to the Social System of Hamadryas Baboons (field experiments)

The inclusion of an alien female hamadryas baboon and a female anubis baboon in their harems by male hamadryas baboons. The females, placed at first in cages and later set free, are "bound" to the male by its attempts at herding and by its various threatening behaviour patterns. Despite the lack of a harem system in anubis baboons, the aggressive behaviour of the male hamadryas baboon leads to the inclusion of the female anubis baboon in its harem. (IWF)
